Saint Christopher

This intricate artwork shows the extraordinary level of my skills at stained glass. Not only is this artwork leaded instead of copper foiled, it is only 17" wide and 27" tall (the wood frame adds another 3" in both directions). I think that ALL geometric st gl projects should be leaded, not foiled. Foil is taught to beginners and many do not go one to learn the use of lead came. Knowing both, I choose based on the project, not based on what I have mastered and not mastered. And having mastered both, I choose lead about 90% of the time.

Asking a stained glass artisan of studio whether they use lead as well as foil is the quickest way to separate the true masters from those whose interest is more financially motivated, in my opinion. I am not the right choice for every st gl project, but you should ask the questions that will obtain the right craftsperson for your project.

This artwork was leaded with 1/8" lead came throughout. A feat in itself.

This artwork is not for sale. It was a custom order that I made in late 2020 and it sold for $1900 plus the cost of insured shipping, which came to $261 with UPS.
