Scott's "Mittens And Slippers" Jatoba Coffee Table

This (Danish) / early 60's modern style coffee table was designed to fit Scott's dimensions (to fit a specific space) and to use the same wood as that in my "Starry Night" coffee table. the tabletop (all from one board), aprons, and legs are made from jatoba (aka Brazilian cherrywood). The breadboard ends (mittens) and the leg tips (slippers) are made from a red Bubinga to accent and enhance the red tones of the Jatoba, and satisfy the artist's fondness for accents.

Jatoba is a dense, heavy, oily wood (like teak) and it is very hard and resistant to denting. With its wet-sanded Danish oil finish, it is almost impervious to food and drink and can be easily refinished if ever needed.

Pretty too.
