First off, David and his crew of professional wood workers are great guys and really know their stuff. The quality of work done on my desk is fantastic and I am very happy with the finished product.

This project was more than a year in the making. This is for two main reasons: I hadn't fully worked out what I wanted exactly and other projects in David's queue held up the actual production start date. These two main points is what led to this project taking so long to complete. This aside, the desk is amazing and is truly beautiful.

The main point of contention I have had with this entire process was certain things just being done without being fully agreed upon. I imagine that the entire process could be considered unorthodox based on how much actual designing went into the project before any wood was cut. The thing is that this began well and as time passed, certain important features or decisions for the project were glossed over. The very fact that David and his crew took the time to basically design this desk from the ground up speaks volumes though. Communication lacked at certain times in the construction where it would have been helpful. Overall, the desk came out great and these nitpicks are really just that, small nitpicks.

My recommendation for working with David and his crew is that you have exactly what you want in mind, or even better, on paper in hard numbers. David will take this information and make it come to life. If you want to take the route I did and go into this with a vague idea and see what you and David come up with, keep in mind that it will probably be some time before you see your finished product. The important thing with David is that he is willing to work with you no matter what.

Would I work with David again? Sure.
Would I recommend David? Sure, with careful consideration based on their project needs.
