Sculpted Wood Primitive Mid Century Style Japanese Noguchi Shou Sugi Ban Modern!
This is an amazing modern art sculpted wood masterpiece by artist Shawn Tyler. It hearkens back to mid century modern style, very close in style and feel to Barbara Hepworth or Isamu Noguchi. This carved wood sculpture measures a generous 16 inches tall x 11 inches wide x 3.5 inches thick, or 41 cm by 30 cm by 9 cm thick. This wood was finished in the Japanese style or shou sugi ban, meaning it was carved into it's monumental form, charred and then the charred material was brushed off, leaving an amazing prominent growth ring pattern that looks and feels lovely. It also imparts a lovely old look, all the more as this wood was reclaimed from a large very weathered beam.
