Working with John was a very positive experience. He quickly replied to any question I asked. I asked him if it would be possible to expedite the shipping date, he quickly agreed.
His "artwork" has a mesmerizing quality to it, when I look at it, it draws me towards the various components within the piece.
Even though it is an "abstract" piece of work, all the different shapes and colors blend into one in a beautiful manner.
The wall sculpture "Arapahoe Pass" is made from hand-milled and carved aspen. The separate pieces are painted using acrylic paint airbrushed into the naked wood. I finish the pieces with dull varnish, which I then sand with soft abrasives until the varnish approaches invisibility. A painted dowel with a wooden medallion intercepts the body of the piece at an angle. This piece is 27" tall, 28" wide and 3" deep.
