The ocean has provided inspiration for the ages. It certainly inspired me when I saw these afghan aquamarines and multi beryl aquamarine stones. I wanted to use these sparklers to make a necklace fit for a sea goddess.
This beautiful necklace is double stranded. The outer strand features faceted afghan aquamarine nuggets, transparent to translucent stones that look like they have crystallized gardens growing inside. Each stone, loving handwrapped in sterling silver, is bordered by a small multi-faceted beryl rondelle. The focal point of the necklace is a tassel of three aquamarines attached to hand-crafted s-loops hammered from sterling silver.
I wanted some sparklers close to your face, so I made the inner necklace from the multi-faceted beryl beads. These rondelles are mostly aquamarine, but also are clear to pink to yellow, very soft and pale. They are studded with the larger afghan aquamarine nuggets.
Both strands meet at the scrolly sterling silver cones. A large sterling silver lobster clasp provides the closure.
The inner necklace is about 15 inches (38.1cm) long, and the outer necklace measures about 19 inches (48.3cm). I've attached a 3.5 inch (8.9) sterling extender chain to the end of one of the cones to provide maximum flexibility for length.
This necklace is an eyecatcher. The color is spectacular, and the stones are so sparkly, they will light up your face! Fit for a diva!
