his serving bowl features gorgeous dark blue bands of flowers and makes a stunning centerpiece to any table.
The outside color of the bowl is the natural light cream of the bare stoneware clay. Underglaze decals of the flowers were added to the surface of the bisqued piece and then glaze fired.
The inside of the bowl has a subtle texture sprialing from the center and is glazed in a deep cobalt blue. The rim of the bowl has a delicate fluted pattern with cobalt blue in the recesses.
I added a shiny clear glaze to the entire surface to ensure food safety.
The piece is food safe. Due to its size, handwashing is recommended. The bowl photographed measures 11 inches in diameter by 4.25 inches high.
The bowl was thrown in my studio in Columbus, Ohio. The material is a stoneware clay which was fired in a electric kiln to cone 6.
