Seymour Work Table

This antique reproduction table is based upon the work of John and Thomas Seymour, working in Boston during the Federal period. Mastering the decorative rich ornamentation and elegant balanced proportions of the Federal era, the Seymours set a standard for meticulous workmanship that endures today. The top of the table, from the center out, is book matched elm burl, bordered by a holly and ebony line inlay, figured satinwood, and another holly and ebony line. The top is framed by Australian lacewood with solid ebony on the top corner. The triple-lunette banding on the edge of the table is made from solid satinwood and each piece is individually sand shaded. It is not painted. The drawers and false drawers on the case side are figured satinwood with a walnut and ebony banding. A banding made from satinwood and ebony runs along the bottom edge of the case and wraps aroung the legs. The case is supported by turned and reeded legs.
