Shag Lamp

This lamp started out as a pendant but ended up as a table lamp. Things evolve, especially in the artist's shop. The shade is constructed from multiple strips of bronze screen cut to varying lengths and widths. The edges are "hemmed" with a double fold. They are then overlapped until the desired shape is created. The pole and other body parts are copper that has been oxidized to a dark brown finish. The metal is then waxed. The base is a two tier stack of Paperstone. Paperstone is considered an environmentally friendly product that is meant mainly for countertops. The rounds are sanded down to a 600 grit finish and then oiled. After the oil has been wiped off, a paste wax is applied and polished out. he custom in-line dimmer is fabricated from copper and Paperstone as well.
