Shaker Trestle Dining Table In Cherry
This is a classic Shaker trestle table. The Shakers were all about economy of materials and simplicity of design and this table echoes those sentiments. The table is relatively light but incredible strong. The trestle on this table is joined to the legs with wedged mortise and tenon joinery for a permanent, strong joint. However, the table can also made with hardware to enable it be disassembled to ease moving and shipping. Three wide boards were used to construct the top. Breadboard ends were added to ensure that the top stays flat for a lifetime. At 36" wide the table creates a more intimate dining experience than the wider tables often found these days. The 80" length allows eight people to dine together with a flexible arrangement of four per side or three per side and one on each end.
