This is available as clean unspun fiber if you wish to spin it yourself, available in 4 ounce increments or as handspun yarn, default weight is DK, 2 ply, but I can spin a different weight if you desire. Most sources of US raised Shetland offer either 3 or 4 colors, currently I have 9 or 10 of the 11 colors described in the "Shetland rainbow." A number of these fleeces are lambs fleece, some are exceptionally fine in the < 20 micron range. Several adult fleeces are also very soft, next to skin soft for sure.
These are all fleeces I have bought as whole fleece directly from the shepherds who have raised the sheep, all US small producers, all people who care about the well-being of their animals. I can, in some cases, provide you with the names of the sheep. You will always receive information about the source of the fleece. For your interest, the colors listed are the traditional Shetland colors. Musket is an oatmeal colored gray beige. Moorit includes a range of red browns. Mioget is a butterscotch golden tan. Shetland black has a warm cast to it. Emsket is a medium bluish gray. Shaela is a smoky charcoal color.
Fleeces are scoured gently with Dawn dish soap and hot water. All methods are as gentle as possible.
I will spin the weight and amount that you want. I need some lead time, a couple of weeks depending on the amount and weight yarn. The listed price is for a 200 yd DK weight skein (11-12 wpi). These are all naturally colored fleeces. White Shetland dyes beautifully and the grays overdye nicely as well. If you desire a specific color, convo me. Please do not hesitate to convo me about any questions.
