This was not my first commission for a dog. After a great room remodel, this couple wanted to get rid of their metal and fake fiber kennels for something more upscale. They fastened onto the idea of an end-table that would also serve as a night-time kennel for their pair of St. Charles spaniels. These are made of ribbon strip Sapele with Sapele Pommele custom veneered panels. The panels were designed for computer-controlled cutting incorporating enough openings to allow the dogs to see out and to get enough ventilation. The doors operate on slides with magnetic catches. So far, these dogs haven't figured out how to open the doors from the inside. Note the slight arches on the floor rails and the removable bottom (for cleaning). Dimensions are 18" wide x 27" deep x 27" high. Other sizes can be made and other species can be used.
