This beautiful and unique "Gothic" Sideboard was crafted to fit in the customer's updated kitchen. The challenge wasn't in constructing the Sideboard, but in getting the "distressed" finish just right...it took several test pieces and many communiques back & forth between the craftsman & the customer before success was achieved.
The Sideboard was constructed of a mix of birch & poplar, 2 hardwoods that accept paint. Mortise & tenon construction were used throughout the base of the Sideboard, while dovetail joints were used for the drawer construction. The drawers move smoothly on 100# rated, full extension, ball bearing drawer slides.
After a complete finish sanding of the Sideboard, a base coat of flat black paint was applied. Once this base coat dried, a semi-gloss black enamel paint was applied. Again, after allowing the paint to thoroughly dry, the Sideboard was "distressed" by using hand sanding with medium grit sandpaper on the edges of the cabinet and the drawer fronts.

I fell in love with a sideboard online and ended up getting it for one quarter of the cost. He delivered it himself yesterday afternoon, ahead of schedule. Would we use him again? Definitely yes.
