Solid Hickory Bookshelves
This client had TONS of Hickory in his house. However, he wanted the stain to match his dark brown desk which was oak. I had Sherwin Williams match the stain and it was dead on accurate! Other than the Hickory being insanely heavy it was a breeze to work with.
My client wanted the shelves to appear to span the entire 10' width. So I half lapped the shelves into the two center supports and used stop dadoes into the side supports. The center supports are also stop dadoes into the top shelf unlike the bottom two shelves into the center supports.
Installation was simple. I scribed the left face frame to the wall as it was 3/16" out of plumb over the 34" height. I then added some custom base shoe I made as trim to the top and right side to hide the gap between the wavy wall.
