Beltona's range of bespoke resonator instruments are constructed using a glass reinforced fibre technique which allows for the basic models to be hybridised to meet specific customer requirements.
The two guitars illustrated here were built for different clients and are hybrids of two distinct traditional resonator guitar models. They combine the single style "O" guitar cone setup with the "tricone" guitar soundhole design. The cutaway is an additional feature to the 12 fret body outline and this allows a longer fingerboard with a total of 22 frets compared to the usual 19 on a non-cutaway guitar design.
The silver grey model and the red model differ from each other in the following ways:
The red model has additional features –
- Hipshot tuneable tailpiece for easy transition between tunings
- Highlander bisquit pickup with onboard volume control located next to the neck heel.
- Extra nut width 1 7/8" over the normal 1 3/4"
- A headstock veneer of eucalyptus pilularis over mahogany.
The overall sound of the guitars is full and bright with loads of volume just like the other Beltona Southerner guitars.
The individual strings are nicely articulated and responsive to fingers and slides.
The weight is light and the balance is perfect either sitting or standing so if you suffer under the weight of a metal or wood-bodied resonator guitar then any of our Southerner guitars are a good choice for you.
