Spalted Maple Bowl

This bowl is made of a spalted maple trunk that I saved from the curb and city wood chipper. I mus admit that I was stunned by the grain patterns and spalting in the seemingly useless wood that I picked up off the curb in my neighborhood. Measuring about 5.5 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches in height this small bowl would make a perfect accent piece or resting place for small objects. Due to the inclusions in the wood there are holes so it would be difficult to use it for eating. I finished this bowl with a custom made coconut oil and wax polish. Depending on your requirements I can make a similar bowl in either larger or smaller dimensions; however due to the highly figured nature of this wood each piece will result in a unique outcome highlighting the natural grain patterns and inclusions of such interesting wood.
