Spalted Silver Maple Coffee Table
I milled this small run of these slabs from a standing dead Maple tree on my farm in Northern Michigan. The highly figured appearance or "spalting" is a form of wood coloration caused by fungi mainly found in dead or distressed trees. Filled and hardened with penetrating epoxy, then sealed with multiple coats of polyurethane, this table is well protected.
The base is made from 3/4" tube steel and powder coated in flat black.
Top: 31" x 25", 2 1/4" thick
Base: 15" x 15"
Overall height: 18 3/4" tall
