SPEED
Sculpture in Bronze
after a design from Joseph Renier
Joseph E. Renier's Sculpture Speed was at the 1939 New York World's Fair. This statue stood in the Court of Communications as a testament to the power of streamlining. The stylized curves, the etched lines and the boundless optimism of this statue sought to illustrate the power of communication technologies such as radio and television to overcome and, indeed, annihilate time and space.
