I have had this knife setting half finished on a shelf for well over a year- nearly 2 to be more exact. Now that I have finally gotten it finished the time to put it on the market is here.
What with hunting seasons just around the corner and Christmas fast approaching.
This blade "as is" IS sharp enough to shave the hair off your arm!
The knife is an idea 10 3/4" in length.
The 6 1/4" long, 1 1/2" wide Damascus blade is made up of 512 layers of high carbon steel ( the dark parts of the blade) and Stainless Steel ( the shinny bits).
The 3/8" thick 2" long single brass guard is secured to the blade by press fitting and 2 brass rods.
The 4" handle is of deeply etched European stag. There are 3@ 1/8" brass pins and 1@ 1/4" lanyard tube thru the handle.
People have asked about how does the sharpness of the blade compare to that of a normal knife.. Oddly enough it actually seems to cut better than a normal blade. While you can not see it with the naked eye and not really feel it with your fingers the microscopic edges between the 512 individual layers act almost like a serrated blade / super fine and it just cuts cleanly and smoothly.
ONE thing that anyone who owns a carbon bladed knife or a Damascus bladed knife HAS to remember is that #1 YOU have to be pro active in keeping the blade clean and oiled down to prevent rust ( CARBON RUSTS)
#2. NEVER EVER store those blades in a leather sheath as leather will retain moisture and rust the blade..
The knife will include a custom handmade leather sheath. The sheaths we provide vary in cost and design. All our knives listed are custom made and are already made. The Sheaths are custom made but are made to order to fit your individual needs. These can vary from fancy tooled western type sheaths, exotic leather hides to survival sheaths with fire rods installed. We have numerous types of leather and colors available as well.
The cost on this knife is $215 to $365 depending on the sheath you decided on. We will talk in person to work out how the sheath portion of the project will fit your particular needs and desires.
