The Plane Edge received a request from a customer to have a standing desk made from solid oak. The customer explained that if a "standing desk was good enough for Thomas Jefferson, it was good enough for him!"

Constructed from solid red oak, this standing desk has a large top that provides a lot of work space for computers and other accessories. Mortise and tenon joinery was used throughout the standing desk. The desk sports three (3) large drawers that move smoothly on full extension, ball bearing drawer slides. To stand up to long term wear and tear, the drawers were constructed with dovetail joinery.

A large surge protector/outlet was installed inside the back rail of the standing desk so connections to computers, printers, etc could be made out of sight.

To complement the rich brown stain of the standing desk, a brass front foot rail was installed, along with brass drawer pulls. The desk was finished with two (2) hand rubbed coats of a 50/50 mix of Danish wood oil and a satin finish polyurethane. Finally, the desk was hand rubbed with liquid wax.
