I become very inspired by listening to music sometimes. Handel's Water Music always gets my creative juices going but recently the music finally created a concrete image in my mind. I imagined the duchesses present during the premier on the River Thames and designed this jewel to have the glamor and elegance of royalty and graceful lines reminiscent of flowing water.
This necklace is a marriage of sterling silver and gold with carefully planned and placed gemstones:
- London Blue Topaz
- Rainbow Moonstone
- Keishi pearls
- Freshwater pearls
- Indicolite Tourmaline
Many techniques and hours were employed in this piece's creation, from wrapping to handmade sterling silver headpins to polishing the silver patina to a beautiful French gray. A true heirloom treasure.
The main focal piece measures 4.5 inches (11.43 cm) and the chain length measures 16 -18 inches (40.64 cm - 45.72 cm).
A very close replication of this piece can be made though the specific gemstones used in your piece will be of slightly differing sizes as a few of the larger stones (for example, the large blue chalcedony focal at the bottom) are all one-of-a-kind. I have a few slightly smaller and one larger than the focal used in the necklace in the picture. Of course, this same style can be applied to create a completely new, "from scratch" creation. Let me know what you have in mind--I would love to hear from you!
