One envisioned idea of creating mechanical parts inset into glass uses the medium to transpose one material into the other. This steampunk design has had several variations and each one is sandblasted by hand peeling layer by layer to create the illuminating depths.

One great thing about the design is day dreaming stories from the details etched within. In one variation, the close up looks like a moon rising or setting in the window area of the glass. I imagined the mechanical gears engaging the movement within this space scene, but in your hands you may see another story. Art is a wonderful way to stimulate your mind.

In one design variation you can see the concept of the moon as if through a window and the gears have produced the clockwork movements turning the positions of the distant object.
