Stitched Up Maple Slab Coffee Table With Black Walnut Butterflys
This slab coffee table is made from salvaged maple, with hand-cut black walnut butterfly joints, and a natural edge on one side. The base is a combination of a trapezoidal block and two offset tapered legs.
This table is a nod to the designs of the late furniture maker George Nakashima. I made it without the use of any power tools, as I had once again nicked my hand in the shop. The line of butterflys is intended to mimic the stitches in my hand at the time.
This table measures approximately 51"L x 17"W x 16"H and has a hand-rubbed oil finish in the same style as Nakashima tables. This design can be replicated to meet your size requirements, and other variations, such as a metal base version, are available.
Dimensions: Can be customized to suit your needs.
