This student desk is patterned after one I built for my son while he was at college. He needed a desk that he could move, by himself, from place to place because he changed residence almost every semester.
This desk breaks down so a single adult can move it. The one pictured was made for my grandson with one set of drawers because his room is small. The desk can be made with drawers at each end. The large bottom drawer is sized for standard file folders.
The frame and panel construction makes it as light as possible while maintaining strength. The drawers slide on waxed hardwood guides. I used solid wood for rails and stiles and vernered furniture grade plywood for the panels and the top. The top is covered by a removable plastic sheet.
