A client approached me and asked if I could build these speaker cabinets based on a European design. He wanted the speakers built to exacting specifications in order to ensure maximum sound quality. He did not have any of the drivers yet, but provided technical documents which included the measurements for the drivers. He said he wanted them red, and he wanted them to have a shiny finish..

Well, I rarely have a chance to do a hand-rubbed finish, as the trend seems to be toward satiny finishes rather than glossy, so I jumped at this opportunity. These speakers are built with 3/4" baltic birch, they have double front baffles, and the lacquer top-coat is hand-rubbed to a deep shine. I really enjoyed this project, and I am very pleased with how well the hand-rubbed lacquer finish turned out!
