Table Or Bench In Solid Pecan With Live Edges And Hand Rubbed Tung Oil Finish

This mr2 Signature Pecan Table with live edges and Tung oil was cut from a Pecan tree that was damaged in a storm. The top was cut laterally thru the tree trunk and is approximately 1 1/4" thick. The tree trunk was salvaged from wood that was going to be burned after the storm.
The table is 52" Wide x 19 1/2" High x 21" Deep. The strength and rigidity of the piece was achieved by using 3" power head screws cover with solid hardwood dowels. No nails or glue were used.
The pecan log was taken to a saw mill and laterally cut to insure uniform and parallel bottom and top surfaces. The top and bottom surfaces were then hand planed, fine sanded and the bark removed in order to keep the natural curves and roughness of the edges. The cracks were stabilized with hand cut butterfly inserts on the bottom side of the table to prevent further cracking. All of the joints and connections were hand cut to achieve uniform and solid joints.
The pecan legs are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" from the same tree and secured to the table top with two 3 1/2" lag bolts.
The piece has 9 coats of hand rubbed Tung Oil over the natural pecan surfaces.
There are additional pieces available if you want to customize the table. Unfinished pecan tree slabs from that tree are also available
