Tansu On Stand

Inspired by Japanese tansu, I decided to take the piece off of the floor (Japan being a floor seated culture) and lift it up to accommodate western living arrangements. This particular piece is done in salvaged red oak on a black walnut stand. Built using traditional joinery - pinned box joints for the cabinet, mortise and tenon on the stand, and bridle joints for the doors which slide smoothly in small dadoes.

Can be done in a variety of available hardwoods, sizes, and variations.
