Tasting Table

"Tasting Table", 51.5" X 41.5" X 42", mesquite, polymerized Tung oil, wax, assembled with machine screws and threaded inserts. Use standing or with a high stool. The curved joints on the top are assembled with a continuous spline, stopping 3/4" from the edge. The joints are done by hand and with hand held machine tools. The joint was developed after receiving a commission for a conference room table that needed to seat 54. I figured it could be made from 9 exceptional mesquite trees. It took almost a year to find the trees, cut, mill and dry them. I had figured on making the typical straight line joint but, when I started laying them out - I would be 3 trees short. So for several months I tested different process of making curved joints. Today I make tables from the most rustic mesquite with about 5% waste. Tasting Table good with red or white.
