The Arranged Marriage Collection

This collection of chairs was created for John Preus's exhibition The World as Text, an exhibition of artists books at Columbia College, in June-July, 2011. They are now being used in a project called SHoP in Hyde Park Chicago. They will become the lounge furniture for this local cultural center and creative space.

The collection demonstrates a working strategy that "marries" parts of furniture leftover from failed industrial processes, which then become opportunities for re-introducing hand craft into this process. They are for sale as an entire set, or in smaller groupings. We encourage convention centers, public lobbies, small meeting areas in churches or waiting rooms, chapels, coffee shops, restaurants... to consider commissions of this type in which we work with industrially made parts, injected with handcrafted elements.
