The Christmas Table

The Christmas Table is our signature piece. It is the table that started James Redway Furniture Makers. The top is chamfered on the corners. There is a carved cupid's bow designed on the skirts. The table is made with traditional mortise and tenon joinery and finished with 5 coats of hand-rubbed tung oil.

The top is made from three planks that were derived from the same board, so it matches in both grain and color. There is some very nice figure in this top.

The tenons are pinned to the legs with hand-planed black walnut pegs. The cupid's bow skirt pattern lightens up the table.

The legs also have quite a bit of figure in them. This table will darken as it becomes exposed to sunlight and oxygen and quickly develop a beautiful patina. Cherry builds a patina quicker than many other species.

The Christmas Table is built to see many Christmas mornings for generations to come. Makes a great place to leave milk and cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve.

The table top is attached with wooden cleats that run along a dado, that allows the top to freely move with the changes of the seasons and with humidity.

The table is signed, numbered, dated and branded with our hallmark.
