She is composed of a mix of rhythmic slats and large panels of steel. The composition is meant to convey her power and yearning for control. The sunburst centered on, or emitting from, her core speaks of the mightiness of women's inner strength. And particularly appropriate for Aphrodite as the godhead of female sexual power and erotic love.
Corten steel is self-weathering Steel. It will develop a rich burnt-orange patina and then stop rusting. She'll be stable in the landscape for decades without need for maintenance. Weathering steel was developed for bridge building.
