"The Last Embrace" By Carme D'Avino

This was a commission made for the Carmen D'Avino Chapel on Wellesley Island in the Thousand Islands region of New York State. The original was carved in stone by Carmen, I made a silicon mold of the original which was used to make wax copy. The wax was invested in ceramic shell to be melted away, referred to as the lost wax technique, leaving a ceramic mold for the bronze to be cast into. The bronze was then chased and a hot patina applied. The sculpture measured 27 in. tall by 11 in. in diameter
