The Last File Cabinet

One of my previous clients is a CPa who works out of her home. She had not had much luck with wooden, store bought file cabinets sized to hold one tax season worth of documents, so she asked for my help. The specifications regarding sizing, location fo tilt out wast basket compartment, locking requirements and ergonomic issues were discussed and worked out. We decided the style and finish of the new piece should compliment her existing antique desk and plans were drawn up. The result is a nice, home office size file cabinet with plenty of capacity and rock sold durability. It is constructed of maple, highly figured tiger maple drawer and compartment fronts that contrast with the straight grain quarter sawn stock of the cabinet frame. The drawers slide out on 1 1/2" overtravel hardware for full access front to back. Note that the tilt out compartment for the waste paper could be easily changed to a door and slide out tray for a computer CPU. My wife liked this set up so much, my future plans include building one for her.
