Glass Mosaic Over Tempered Glass - Freestanding Sculpture

This is another piece in progress... the finished project will be a free-standing sculptural piece. All that is left is to pick out an appropriate piece of stone for a base, and to design & fabricate a metal mounting structure.

This work consists of a base of 1/4" tempered glass; the colored glass pieces are individually cut and matched to each other, one at a time. They are then permanently mounted to the base glass, resulting in a piece that is suitable for indoor or outdoor installation. Many of the colored pieces also have texture, which adds to the visual interest of the composition.

Within the design I combined both organic and geometric form - I think that the end-result is "harmony in action"... lots of movement but all working together.

A stone base of significant weight will be necessary to counter-balance this piece, which weighs about 35lbs. Until I finish this sculpture I have no idea what the price will be...

I'm posting this piece because it provides nice imagery for what could be done to accent/complement a large window... instead of using a traditional window covering you could place a piece like this in front of the window, providing privacy, but still easily changeable.

Dimensions: 4'h x 18"w x 1.5"d
