This is a bronze bird cast onto a real bronze tree branch and then welded to a forged steel tree and steel base. I just wanted a bird on a branch so this is how this project started. Between my making it and having it cast I ended up divorced and after wanting to quit making art all together I thought about this bird and began to work on it again. I felt the Phoenix was a fitting title as I began to work on my passion of art again. Carved into the steel base are the words "Phoenix" in all different languages. We can all rise again from what appears to be death to a brighter and better future. I recomitted my life to Jesus at this point also and am now heavily involved in our church as a born again Christian. I serve as an usher and met a woman and got married again, and now we are expecting our first child together. Together we teach Sunday School to 12-17 year olds and I'm making more sculpture and fashion handbags than I ever have before. This sculpture represents me.
Dimensions: About 20" tall by 15" wide at the widest part of the branch, by about 3" at the base.
