This is a beautiful handmade Pennsylvania style blanket chest or keepsake box with drawers. Constructed of highly figured 5A tiger maple, it is based on period examples both in design and construction. The case is dovetailed along with the traditional bracket feet and 2 drawers. All of the wood is carefully selected and matched for consistency of grain and figure, most from a single board. The drawer sides, backs and bottoms are tulip poplar . The entire piece is made of solid wood, no plywood or veneers anywhere. It is finished in an Early American stain and a satin lacquer finish that really makes the figure pop out and gives it a nice warm look and feel. All of the hardware is top quality solid brass and the mortised lock comes with 2 keys. Available in various sizes and options. Dimensions of the chest pictured are 21 1/4" long, 10" wide and 13" tall. The drawers are roughly 9" wide, 8 3/4" deep and 3" tall.
