Tree #8 Handcrafted Wooden Box

Small mahogany box.

The design of this box started with the idea of a tree. In all trees, the nutrients flow up the trunk of the tree to the leaves. I started with the idea of a cylinder of imaginary clay material. If I push into the material at eight equally spaced intervals I could create eight columns. I use the eight columns to represent the nutrient pathways. The resulting bulge, or dome, on the top of the cylinder represents the crown of the tree, the branches and leaves of the tree. I used South American mahogany to create this box.

This box measures approximately 3" (diameter) x 2 1/2" (height)
