"Tricky Tripod" Table Bases
Note, these tripods cost $750 for one or $1,350 for a pair. These hand-chosen, black walnut table bases were designed to compliment the client's fabulous new chairs and to go under his existing 96 X 46 inch glass tabletop. Each "third" is splined to each other "third." A wonderful project for those who know the tricks of the table saw and the art of creative clamping. Built in 1 and 3/4 inch thick lumber, these are some seriously solid bases. The client has really put together a fine dining table set and I was glad to be a part of it! These bases can be used singly for round tabletops. They are indeed tricky (thus costly) to make because of the complex joinery and clamping required, but the result is a table base of immense strength and fabulous modern aesthetics.
