What a wonderful artist Michelle is! After meeting with us initially to better understand what we had in mind for the transom window, she prepared several artist drawings with suggested themes. Every one was a possibility that we could have been pleased with. With her talent it made it difficult to decide. We settled on one, then changed to another, and finally after incorporating elements from more than one, and with further changes and additions we finally settled on what has become a work of art in the 6' wide arched transom window above our 8' front doors. It incorporates elements of the family's heritage with a truly wonderful rondel at it's center.
This piece was commisioned as a wedding gift from the bride to the groom and the design was based upon a photograph she had taken. This was the view from the beach on Maui where the groom had proposed to the client. The story has it that this small off shore island has two coconut palms growing on it in remembrance of two brothers who sacrificed everything to be together. The image was very meaningful as the couple embarked upon their life-long journey together.
