Upcycled Costume Necklace With Beadwork

This asymmetrical piece began with old costume jewelry. I used a costume gold multi-strand chain necklace, and its original clasp. I redistributed the chains to one side of the clasp and attached them to the pin back of an old brooch. The other side is made up of intertwined strands of beads--glass seed beads, citrine chips, jade, crystal, and two black enameled cloisonné beads with pink roses. Each bead strand is attached to the brooch pin, which is wrapped with wire and the pin back permanently closed.

The clasp is a easy tab-pull snap clasp. The piece measures approximately 22 inches in diameter, with the tassel hanging about 3 inches below. Please note that the metals used are not real gold.

This one of a kind piece was designed for my 2011 FashionSpark runway show in Raleigh, NC.
