Think about it, if you haven't yet established a working relationship with a local upholsterer, then now is a perfectly good time to do just that. You will be supporting a local entrepreneur as well as the one typing these words.
You probably have several local upholsterers to choose from. Find one and have him/her upholster any number of items in your home, having such a connection is a great asset to anyone who is decorating their home.
Or better yet learn how to upholster and do it yourself, it is a very useful skill to have.
A better way to make a bench.
An extremely high strength to weight/material ratio, a low center of gravity and ridiculously good looks.
Punching well above it's weight, our 59-inch bench uses 1/4 as much tree to create, yet has the comparable strength of a 2- inch solid wood slab.

Supported by a set of four 16-inch angled Spiral Cone Legs.
These legs are made of 1/4" cold steel round bar, formed and welded into a spiral cone, ending at a 1-1/2" diameter solid steel ball, Very strong legs.
