Urban Industrial Accent Table, Side Table, Coffee Table

Urban-industrial describes a style that pairs recycled industrial material, mainly steel or wood, with design flair, excellent craftsmanship and and a finely accented finish. Industrial chic, more like. The result is functional art. The textural quality of the materials retain their honest, used look as part of the character they lend the piece.

So it is with this table - its legs are leaf-springs from an (unknown) truck which have been wire-brushed down to effect a smooth finish on a thick crust of oxidation ; the base is steel-plate from the renovation of the Whitestone bridge; the table-top is a recycled Birch burl. The metal is finished with a linseed-oil extract that adds luster and fixes its naturally deep patina.

Sure it's a table, but I view this piece as a sculpture in its own right.

It would be confident in a Soho loft or a Westchester library

DIMENSIONS: Height 27 inches; Length 22 inches; depth 16 inches

It's exactly what I wanted. I hate having cookie cutter furniture that can be in anyones home. It has not depth or style. This on the other hand says I found someone that gets my sense of style and decorum. Recommission materials. Class.

The table will certainly add an "urban avant-garde" quality. It's fun and a little crazy like me. A conversation piece for sure.
