A suit for daywear in the mid-1860's. It is intended for wear over an elliptical-style hoop skirt to have that lovely tapering silhouette. I based this dress off of a Promenade Dress in the Tidens Tøj Museum in Denmark.
This dress was made from tropical-weight wool, velvet ribbon, and dupioni silk. I enjoy the more finicky period details like, gauging on the skirts, hand applied trims, hand-sewn buttonholes, ...etc. It consists of a Garibaldi styled blouse, Skirt with gauging, and applied ribbon trim with appliques and silk, a silk vest, a Zouave Jacket, and a matching hat.
This dress was made for an author to illustrate her characters visually. Wear one to a convention or Steampunk event, a Victorian Christmas Fair, Civil War reenactment, or your own Victorian events.
