Vintage (1976) Evening Dress with Sun Flower Applique - Bicentennial - White, Red and Blue - Polyester
Description: In 1976 my mother was going to attend a party celebrating the bicentennial of the United States. She requested that I design her a dress for the occasion. She wanted it to incorporate the colors red, white and blue. After some thought, I came up with this design. The flowers are applique, and the stitches were applied one petal at a time. The process took over twenty four hours (three full work days), but I was pleased with the results.
My mother wore the dress to the party and received many compliments. At the time, I decided to make two additional dresses using the same design. This dress is one of those additional dresses. I am selling both of them (this one is polyester, and the other is satin crepe). The flower placement and designs differ slightly for the two different dresses.
Please note: The color of the dress is off-white (I wasn't sure if that was clear in the photo).
Material: 100% Polyester
