I stumbled upon this early 20th century dentist's drill at an antique show, and knew immediately that it was destined to become a deeply cool desk lamp.
After thoroughly cleaning and polishing all the parts, I sourced a suitable lightweight aluminum shade that would be supportable by the slender chrome arms, and wiring that matched the original cord that served as the drill's "drive belt."
The lamp is fully adjustable and can be locked into position by tightening knurled chrome knobs, and the drill motor moves beautifully within the base frame when the main arm is tilted.
It now lives happily in the home of an interior designer in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, but I have the ability to make more.
