Vintage Painted Distressed End Table Solid Maple

This is a vintage well constructed, solid maple wood end table, dated from around the late 1940s - early 1950s.

It is a multipurpose piece that can be used as and end table, bedside table, end of a twin sized bed (add pillow on top) or in a bathroom to store towels and toiletries.

It has been hand painted first in Old Violet Chalk Paint. A color like deep Parma violets or blue lavender, it is a wonderful 18th century color used for coloring the inside of furniture- like the lining of a jacket. Over that we painted Old White, so that when distressed, the blue will peek through from underneath. We decide to distress it heavily so that a lot of the blue as well as the natural wood color will peek through in various spots.
