This small table is one of a series that combines a found & repurposed metal base with locally sourced or reclaimed wood. It began when I stumbled upon a vintage school desk & chair for sale outside a local junk store. I cut off the badly weathered wooden desk & chair, scrubbed & painted the base, and gave it a solid Vermont Sugar Maple top. The finish is water based poly-acrylic: a low VOC, non-toxic, water soluble finish that polishes to a high luster, and protects for years & years. This is the perfect size for a coffee table, or as a sofa end table, though the sculptural form of the base looks best when it's able to be viewed from all sides. The legs are slightly asymmetrical due to the design of the desk: the legs under the seat were smaller than the legs under the desk. I call this style Farmhouse Modern.
Dimensions: 20" x 42" x 14", this is a one of a kind piece though I have made several similar tables, and can build one for you too. Just let me know what you're looking for.
