This is a custom Tansu styled wall cabinet. The main body is completely hand-carved solid 3/4" Black Cherry. It has a very unique look and feel, it truly invites the viewer to reach out and touch it. The cabinet contains three differently sized drawers, a single small shelf, and large open storage space. The drawers are built old-school with hand-cut dovetails (front and rear). They have custom Cocobolo pulls in their Wenge faces. The door fronts are reminiscent of sliding rice paper doors found in many traditional Japanese homes. They are made with Black Cherry frames holding Spalted Maple panels. the panels are made from a single board and as such the grain pattern flows across the entire face of the cabinet. The cabinet flush mounts to any wall with a french cleat mounted on the backside. It is also flat at the base and can be stood on a table, chest, or stand if that is preferred. The finish is a high quality oil followed by wax. This is a heirloom quality piece that will look wonderful in an entryway, hallway, bedroom, or den for many years to come.
