Wall-Mounted Wood Plane Gallery (Art)

For collectors and those who appreciate unique art I am offering a custom wall-mounted gallery to show off your prized collection! It's perfect art for a man-cave, office, or hallway art.

In the attached photos I built a walnut gallery designed to hold antique woodworking hand planes in various sizes. My design includes a hidden (recessed) 'french cleat' to easily and securely attach the gallery to your wall.

Wood choices: walnut, western maple, eastern rock maple, oak/elm. Prices vary for wood selection. I typically seal my pieces with a gel-stain plus oil/varnish blend wipe-on finish (Arm-R-Seal).

Construction method: frame is solid hardwood joined via ultra-strong box joints (dove tail joints are possible for extra fee). Backing can either be 1/2" plywood (in your chosen species), or solid hardwood (for an extra fee). Shelves can either be 1/2" plywood (in your chosen species) with hardwood banded edges or solid hardwood. Hardwood needs to factor wood movement with the seasons, plywood has the advantage that it doesn't need to accommodate seasonal wood movement.

Dimensions: I can build to suit your needs. The gallery in this listing has the following dimensions: 50" wide x 36" tall x5" deep.

I can deliver within the greater seattle area for $40, or you can pick it up from my shop in Bellevue.

Example pricing:

(a) Solid walnut construction for 50" x 36" x 5" gallery with walnut gel-stain (natural walnut will slowly fade lighter with time) and Arm-R-Seal finish = $1,600

(b) Walnut solid hardwood case with walnut plywood shelves and back for 50" x 36" x 5" gallery, no stain, Arm-R-Seal finish = $1,450

(c) Elm or western maple solid hardwood case with oak or maple plywood shelves and back for 50" x 36" x 5" gallery medium gel-stain with Arm-R-Seal finish = $1,300

For an extra $950 I can also supply 16 antique hand planes in various sizes and makes like you see in these photos (these planes are now very trendy, expensive at $40-$100 each and take time to find on Ebay and local antique stores).
