The customer preferred the look of both the heartwood & sapwood of walnut for a striking mix of dark & light walnut. The walnut top measures
1-3/4" thick x 40" wide x 94" long. The walnut top was finished with a hand-rubbed 50/50 mix of Danish wood oil & a satin polyurethane; buffed with liquid wax after the top was dry.
The metal base was made from stainless steel & welded to form 2 opposing trapezoids.
